Esandi is studying a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours), majoring in Electrical with a minor in Data Science.
She is aiming to work as a power engineer, where she hopes to be part of the integration of sustainable energy sources into the existing electricity grid. She is excited for the challenges and opportunities that the ‘electrification of everything’ will bring. Esandi was a recipient of the Australian Power Institute Bursary in 2020, which gave her the opportunity to work as an Undergraduate Engineer at Queensland’s electricity distribution network service provider since late 2021.
One of Esandi’s highlights throughout her three years in the Liveris Academy was interviewing Professor Deborah Terry - UQ Vice-Chancellor - about empowering women in leadership positions as part of the Liveris Academy Distinguished Speaker Series in 2020.
Esandi is very passionate about encouraging other young women to pursue engineering or tech as a career. She volunteers as a UQ Women in Engineering Student Leader and is the Vice President of UQ Skirts in Engineering.
Outside of her work and studies, you will find her at a cute café or restaurant with her friends, at the beach or trying out a new hobby – most recently, hiking!
Esandi plans to continue soaking up all the wisdom offered to her in the Liveris Academy, and is excited to put her best effort into contributing towards a more sustainable future.
