Sofia Banks

Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) and Master of Engineering
Vice-Chancellor's Scholar

Sofia is studying a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) and Master of Engineering, and plans on majoring in Chemical and Biomedical.

In 2020 she graduated from All Hallows' School as Dux of Year 12, and first in Chemistry and Italian. Sofia was a member of the school’s environmental justice and human rights groups and learned a lot helping coordinate fundraisers and awareness initiatives.

Outside of her studies Sofia enjoys listening to and playing classical piano and working on one of her many (so far unfinished) sewing projects. She enjoys mending and sewing her own clothes, also in line with her efforts to live more sustainably. She also has a love for sport, having played football, AFL, basketball, and athletics during her school years. Always on the look out to try new things and experiences, she plans on taking up rock climbing in 2021 and going on an exchange semester or year in Milan during her university years.

Sofia is interested in sustainability in the healthcare industry and how we can innovate biomedical solutions that are not only effective, but are sustainably developed and produced. She is also interested in how we can tackle climate change through the development of more sustainable materials.

She is a recipient of a Vice-Chancellor's Scholarship and is excited to be a Liveris Academy Vice-Chancellor's Scholar.
