Max graduated from Brisbane Boys’ College as Proxime Accessit and Valedictorian in 2020. During Max’s senior year, he was recognised for his contribution to the leadership at his school as recipient of the Australian Defence Force Long Tan Youth Leadership and Teamwork award.

Within a Bachelor of Advanced Science, Max has elected to major in physics and during his honours year he will be studying theoretical models for quantum control of proteins. His research interests are characterised not only by his passion for mathematics and quantum theory, but also by his ambition to have tangible research impact in the domain of quantum biotechnology.

Max also values any opportunity to learn outside of his study discipline. During his undergraduate studies, he has held data scientist roles at the Queensland Brain Institute and Rio Tinto; contributed as an author in a report led by the Queensland Academy of Arts and Sciences on the management of the pandemic; and has published a podcast episode with the former Chief Scientist of Australia on the topic of the ’Electric Planet’.

Outside of his studies, Max enjoys running, beach fishing, surfing and volunteering as treasurer for the United Nations affiliated women’s empowerment community group, GirlUp.

Max is honoured to be an inaugural Liveris Academy Vice Chancellor’s Scholar and Alumina Industries Scholarship recipient.
