Abel Budiono

Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) and Master of Engineering
QLD Commitment Scholar

Abel is starting his second year of study in the integrated Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) and Master of Engineering Program, specialising in Electrical Engineering. In his first year, he achieved a Dean's Commendation in both semesters. Abel aspires to work on new and emerging technologies to innovate and improve the quality of life for everyone.

Abel graduated from Marsden State High School in 2024 as School Dux, after previously achieving Top Achiever amongst his cohort for two years. He received numerous accolades, including the ADF Future Innovators Award, AIP Certificate of Excellence in Physics, QCE Academic Commendation, and others.

In his final year of high school, Abel was entrusted as VEX Robotics Team Captain and as a School Captain. As VEX Captain, he led the team to win the Judges' Award in the 2024 VEX Robotics Nationals Competition. As a School Captain, Abel successfully advocated for facilities upgrades.

Beyond his academic and leadership pursuits, Abel also enjoys photography, playing the piano, tinkering with electronics projects, and debating; he has won ENABLE Debating Grand Champion twice, in Junior and Senior categories.

Abel has always been highly passionate about giving back to his community. He is continuing his leadership journey as a Young Achievers Mentor for Cohort 17, after previously being a mentee himself. He also volunteers as a reader at his local church community. In Year 12, he used the debating experience he had gathered in previous years to adjudicate for ENABLE Debating.

Abel is honoured to be a Liveris Scholar and is eager to learn from and contribute to the Academy and its opportunities and connections.
