Bachelor of Science
UQ Aspire Scholar
Herbert is completing a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and Applied Mathematics at The University of Queensland – with further studies in Physics in preparation for future study in a Graduate Diploma of Meteorology with the BOM.
Prior to commencing at UQ, Herbert graduated with an unadjusted ATAR of 91.1 – the third highest in his school cohort – and was awarded by Griffith University the 'Make it Matter Award' – alongside the Rotary Club 'Best All Rounder' Award and the 'Bodie John Apps' Citizenship Award from his high school for his consistent commitment and dedication to the community.
Throughout his high school journey, Herbert committed himself to being a good role model and reliable leader – performing in school ensembles and competing in eisteddfods, supporting teachers and students alike – whether it be through a simple conversation or volunteer work. Herbert also formed a debate club during high school in his final year as house captain. In 2025, Herbert was fortunate to participate in the CURE (Chemistry Undergraduate Research Experience) alternate lab program – where he tested his research and teamwork skills as an emerging chemist.
Outside of university, Herbert is a competitive athlete in ITF Taekwon-Do – where he holds a first-degree Black Belt and competes regularly in martial arts tournaments – defending his first-place title in the Light Kick division for the ISKA Queensland Titles alongside competing in the ISKA Nationals.
Herbert is honoured to work with the Liveris Academy and looks forward to collaborating with like-minded scholars and applying his expertise towards a sustainable future.
