Ashleigh Locke

Bachelor of Arts/Laws (Honours)
Young Achievers Program (YAP) Scholar

Ashleigh is a second-year Bachelor of Arts/Laws (Honours) student at The University of Queensland, driven by interest in social justice and legal equity. She enjoys helping others, and has a particular interest in how legal frameworks can be reformed to better serve marginalised populations. She is dedicated to using her studies to benefit society.

Ashleigh grew up in the rural town of Warwick and graduated from Warwick State High School in 2023 with academic excellence and cultural awards. Her upbringing in a regional community has considerably shaped her passion for bridging the accessibility gap for those living outside metropolitan areas. She would like to work towards a future where legal representation and education are accessible to all, regardless of geographic or socioeconomic background. In her free time, Ashleigh enjoys doing photography, with a particular fondness for visual storytelling.

Outside of her coursework, Ashleigh us actively involved in student leadership at university. She is currently a Sponsorship Officer for UQ Justice and the Law Society, where she is helping to make partnerships that support social justice initiatives. Her commitment to community service is further displayed in her volunteering with the UQ Pro Bono Centre, where she was part of a youth justice initiative that delivered legal literacy presentations to high school students.

Ashleigh is eager to be part of the Liveris Academy to learn from a diverse cohort, make meaningful connections, and develop the leadership skills necessary to drive positive change.
