Michael Murray

Bachelor of Advanced Science (Hons)
Vice Chancellors Scholar

Michael commenced his university study in 2023 as a recipient of the UQ Vice-Chancellor's Scholarship, studying a Bachelor of Advanced Science. His initial intent was to study a physics major, but after taking his first university-level mathematics course, he decided to add a mathematics major as well. Michael is passionate about physics, particularly quantum physics, and believes that this field will play an integral role in the technological advances necessary for creating a sustainable future.

Throughout high school, Michael was a keen debater and musician, playing trombone in the school's bands and viola in the symphony orchestra. He pursued a broad range of study subjects through to grade 12, including physics and mathematics, but also history and latin.

Michael is looking forward to connecting with scholars from other disciplines and broadening his focus to learn more about how other fields contribute towards advancement, especially in sustainability.

For leisure, Michael plays trombone in the UQ Big Band, plays touch football and pursues his passion for sailing.
