Isabel Barton is an ambitious and accomplished student currently pursuing a dual degree in Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Queensland. Her long-term goal is to lead a team that investigates, designs, and applies innovative solutions to complex problems within the biotechnology field, with a focus on developing a more sustainable world.

Isabel graduated in 2021, where she was school captain. Isabel's dedication to her studies is matched by her commitment to making a positive impact on her community. She has gained valuable industry experience through her participation in a BHP First Year Internship, working in manufacturing engineering as an undergraduate and is currently a 2024 UQ Neurotech Partnerships Executive.

Isabel's passion for social responsibility and volunteerism is evident in her involvement with Hike to Heal Australia, a non-for-profit organization that focuses on suicide prevention by engaging the community in an awareness campaign called “Hike to Heal Scavenger Hike”. Additionally, she has engaged with the Toowoomba Regional Council as a Youth Leader for two years, where she worked with marginalised and disadvantaged local youths. She has been actively involved with Peer Support programs and the Smith Family Foundation.

Isabel is grateful for the opportunity to be a Liveris Academy Scholar, which will provide her with the resources and support to excel in her studies and contribute to the development of sustainable solutions. She is excited to collaborate with other innovative and driven students through the program.
