Lucia Rega

Vice-Chancellor's Scholar

Lucia is studying a dual degree of a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) and Bachelor of Mathematics, majoring in mechatronic engineering and applied mathematics. 

She graduated from All Hallows' School in 2020 as Dux of her cohort and was subsequently awarded a UQ Vice-Chancellor's Scholarship. She was also recognised with a QCE Distinguished Academic Achievement Award, acknowledging her place within the top 37 students in Queensland for 2020.  

Throughout high school, Lucia was involved in a number of volunteering, leadership, and co-curricular endeavours and received awards for academic, cultural and sporting excellence. Her co-curricular captaincy position, role as a mentor for junior music ensembles and role as a UQ Science Ambassador, nurtured her passions for leadership and STEM. 

Throughout her time at university, Lucia acquired an executive position on the Electrically Based Engineering Student Society and commenced a position as an engineering tutor at UQ, taking joy in giving back to others.

Lucia is interested in using her engineering and mathematics degrees to optimise renewable energy and technology. She is proud to be a recipient of an Australian Power Institute Energy Industry Bursary Scholarship that enables her to explore her passion for sustainability in the power industry.

When Lucia is not studying, she enjoys playing high level piano, travelling and spending time with friends.

She is honoured to be a member of the Liveris Academy and is excited to cultivate her passion for leadership and innovation.
