Lucy Gray

Bachelor of Business Management
Stavros Niarchos Foundation Scholar

Lucy Gray doesn't just build technology - she builds bridges between innovation and the people who need it most. As a third-year Information Systems student at the University of Queensland, Lucy has earned recognition for her ability to transform complex technical ideas into real-world solutions for vulnerable communities.

Her approach to innovation is shaped by over four years of direct work with the communities her technology serves - from supporting young people with disabilities to gain employment through The Baking Bunch, to volunteering with the Starlight Children's Foundation and working as an NDIS support worker. Lucy continues developing her leadership voice through public speaking, understanding that systemic change requires moving beyond individual solutions to championing the frameworks and systems that allow organisations to better serve communities.

Lucy's academic achievements includes earning the highest grade in BISM2208 (Managing Projects) and earning four Dean's Commendations for Academic Excellence throughout her undergraduate studies. Lucy recently returned from Korea University, where she completed intensive training in machine learning algorithm development as part of a short-term exchange program.

Lucy's approach to digital inclusion earned first place at the Asia-Pacific ICT Tech4Change Innovation Challenge, where she and her team developed 'The Farmer's Digital Toolbox', bringing digital innovation to farmers in rural communities. But her most significant work has been leading the development of 'GoingGood?', a machine learning-based suicide prevention model for homelessness services. After presenting to Oracle executives and Queensland's Minister of Housing and Public Works, the project is now being prepared for rollout in 2026 with the potential to save lives.

Lucy's selection as a Liveris Scholar marks the next step in a journey from micro-level impact to the macro-level systemic change she's working to create.
