Liveris Undergraduate Scholar(2022)

Murray is studying the Doctor of Medicine at the University of Queensland, having completed a Bachelor of Science in 2024.

Growing up in Far North Queensland before moving to Brisbane for university has shaped Murray’s commitment to improving health outcomes and supporting young people to thrive. He has been a Liveris Scholar since 2022 and has valued the diverse experiences offered through the Liveris Academy. He highlights the study trip to Bandung, Indonesia in 2022 as a particularly rewarding experience that demonstrated how community empowerment can drive sustainable progress.

Murray has collaborated with fellow Liveris Scholars on several initiatives, including contributing to the Queensland Academy of Arts and Sciences’ Voices from the Pandemic report. Working alongside academics, business leaders and community representatives to reflect on the lessons from the pandemic was an insightful and challenging experience.
Murray is an advocate for health improvement and youth empowerment and previously served on the Queensland Youth Strategy Engagement Group, informing the state’s 2024 Young Queenslanders’ Strategy. Collaborating with other young Queenslanders reinforced his belief in the value of youth involvement in shaping policy and addressing complex challenges.

Outside his academic commitments, Murray thoroughly enjoys training for and competing in triathlon.

Murray is delighted to be a Liveris Scholar and is enthusiastic about contributing to the Academy, the university community, and the broader community. He looks forward to building on his experiences and continuing to advocate for meaningful change.
