Bachelor of Biotechnology / Doctor of Medicine (Provisional Entry)
Vice Chancellor's Scholar
Vishaak has been accepted into the Provisional Entry into Medicine program at UQ and is currently completing a Bachelor of Biotechnology to enrich his desire for medical research. Vishaak was the recipient of the 2020 QCE Outstanding Academic Achiever Award for achieving the top grade 12 result out of 49,651 graduating students.
He serves on the UQ Academic Board, representing over 35,000 undergraduate students. Graduating as School Vice-Captain and Dux of The Southport School (TSS) with an ATAR of 99.95 in 2020, Vishaak is grateful to have been given the opportunities that have made him who he is today. Between 2015-2020, he has been an active member of the Australian Army Cadets, serving as a sergeant. This enduring experience has instilled him with discipline and a fond sense of community, traits which led him to complete summer internships in sustainability at Boeing and KBR.
Vishaak is passionate about civic engagement, believing that education is the key to our problems. Over the past two years, he has worked in leading a team to package hundreds of stationery and education kits to be transported to schools in Kenya. This eye-opening experience has made him aware and inspired him to seek a global approach to modern sustainability and equality goals.
Vishaak is a passionate rower, having rowed for the past 7 years, and has budding interests in basketball, soccer, rugby and debating. In the future, he seeks to involve himself in medical research, stemming from his Research Mentorship that he conducted in 2020 with a Yale Neuroscience Professor on fMRI technology and his ongoing position at the Australian Institute for Bioengineering and Nanotechnology.
Vishaak is very grateful to have been offered this opportunity and is looking forward to proactively contributing to the Liveris Academy as well as university.
