Vice-Chancellor's Scholar
Emily graduated from Townsville Grammar School in 2020, where she received an ATAR of 99.95. A participant on the National Youth Science Forum in 2020, Emily loved the opportunity to view the real world applications of STEM and be empowered to be a young leader in her field. The program inspired her to pursue a career in engineering. Recognising the global issue of food security, she plans to us her degree to work in the food industry looking at ways to address the problem, like meat alternatives.
Emily was the School Captain at TGS and an active member of her school community. She enjoys playing netball and other social sports, being a member of musical ensembles and cooking for friends and family. A highlight of her schooling was her participation in the Duke of Edinburgh's Award, which she feels has given her the social agency and confidence to make change in her community.
Outside of her studies, Emily has a passion for travel after completing a short-term exchange in Italy. She wishes to return to complete a semester abroad and continue to broaden her social horizons and improve her foreign language skills.
