Riley Clarke

Bachelor of Commerce (Finance)/Bachelor of Laws (Honours)
Stavros Niarchos Foundation Scholar

Riley is studying a Bachelor of Commerce, majoring in Finance, and a Bachelor of Laws (Honours). Riley has been actively involved during his time at University and commended for his academic excellence. He was awarded a UQ Excellence scholarship in 2019.

He was named Queensland Lions Youth of the Year in 2018 for his academic, community and leadership achievements, winning both the overall and public speaking components. He has been a Member of the Queensland Youth Parliament and aims to continue his political involvement.

He was awarded the Professor Ian Frazer AC Humanitarian Award by Lions International in recognition of his dedicated commitment to humanitarian services for the community.

During his schooling at Padua College where he achieved an OP 1, Riley was College Vice-Captain, Dux of Economics and English, Head of Department (Human Factors) in the college’s Australian Space Design Competition Team, and was involved in debating, model UN competitions, along with leadership and community outreach programs.

Outside his studies, Riley is a keen golfer – unfortunately keenness alone doesn’t improve his game.

With his remaining time at UQ, Riley looks forward to investigating the key solutions needed to respect humanity’s duty to nature. With the support of The Liveris Academy and The Stavros Niarchos Foundation – two great examples of private enterprise advancing the public interest - Riley will explore the renewed effort in statesmanship and business required to advance the full capability of modern science, generate the wealth needed to support transformation, and overcome present imbalances in climates, populations and resources.
