Adeleine is in her third year studying a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) (Chemical and Metallurgical). Her interest in the resources industry was sparked after participating in BHP’s inaugural First Year Intern Program, where she was exposed to the diversity of opportunities in mining. She loves that her degree is technically challenging and allows for global travel and leadership development. Adeleine has since completed vacation work in the metallurgy team at Oz Minerals Prominent Hill site in South Australia, where she was able to gain practical experience in the plant operations, laboratory, projects and plant metallurgy teams.
Adeleine is a recipient of the Vice-Chancellors Scholarship, Liveris Academy Undergraduate Scholarship, Chemical Engineering Bursary and AusIMM Education Endowment Fund Scholarship. She enjoys her role as an active member of the UQ engineering community, as social officer within the Chemical Engineering Student Society and as a student leader within the Women in Engineering program, and previously held positions as secretary and representative in the first-year engineering ‘Connect’ sub-committee.
As someone passionate about improving inclusion and diversity, Adeleine hopes to use her position in the academy as a platform to show more young girls the rewarding opportunities available in engineering.
Adeleine hopes to work as a plant metallurgist on-site after graduation, and contribute to improving the social and environmental performance of the industry through a leadership and governance role in the future. Outside of her studies, Adeleine enjoys volleyball and loves spending Sundays playing for her local club's womens team. She is honoured to continue her journey as a Liveris Scholar and hopes to continue to make the most of the opportunities and networks provided in the coming years.
