Akemi Evans

Bachelor of Engineering (Honours)/Bachelor of Science
Pekol Family Scholarship for Women in Engineering

Akemi is driven by a strong commitment to improving quality of life in her community through expanding equitable access to healthcare and advancing medical innovation. Her passion for STEM and for working with diverse communities has led her to pursue dual degrees in electrical and biomedical engineering and physics, alongside holding provisional entry into the University of Queensland’s Doctor of Medicine program. She is determined to build a career that bridges medical innovation with direct clinical impact, developing new technologies while applying them to improve patient outcomes.

Akemi graduated as Dux of Nambour State College on the Sunshine Coast in 2024 and as the recipient of the Apex Community Service Award. Throughout high school and her first year of university, she has demonstrated strong leadership and service by representing her peers as a student council member, volunteering with a local refugee support group and an aged care residence, participating in the 2024 National Youth Science Forum, coordinating a fundraising team for the Children’s Cancer Institute, and completing the Leaders in EAIT Pathway program.

Beyond her studies, Akemi enjoys reading, exploring food and culture, staying informed on global affairs, travelling, and spending time with her dogs. She is eager to further develop her leadership, engagement, and problem-solving skills as a Liveris Scholar and to contribute to a coordinated effort to engineer solutions to real-world challenges. Akemi views the Liveris Academy as a unique platform to learn from and collaborate with experts and like-minded peers in leading a fairer, more sustainable future.
