William Henry

Bachelor of Mathematics/ Bachelor of Computer Science                                                                                   Vice-Chancellor’s Scholar

William graduated in 2022 from Brisbane State High School, achieving an ATAR of 99.95 and thus was also awarded UQ’s prestigious Vice Chancellor’s Scholarship. He is now studying a Bachelor of Mathematics and Computer Science and is enthusiastic to develop a career at the intersection of programming, mathematics and finance.

While a high school student, William engaged in numerous extra-curricular activities and was ultimately rewarded for his efforts with an ADF Future Innovator’s Award and by winning the Queensland Mock United Nations Security Council Competition known as EVATT. William has fostered a lifelong passion for problem solving, particularly in fields with a quantitative focus. He has engaged in numerous math olympiads and has consistently sought competitions and learning opportunities in STEM.

William is an active member of the community, at 15 he established a youth advisory panel for his state electorate and was an active member in the following years. He has consistently volunteered his time and skills to organisations which he has an affinity for, including the World Science Festival and Empower Assistance Dogs.

Beyond this, William is also an obsessive reader, chess player and drummer and participates in local clubs to further these interests. As a Liveris Scholar, William is excited to meet like-minded people and broaden his thinking about key issues such as sustainable manufacturing and energy production.
