William Armstrong

Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) / Bachelor of Computer Science                                                            Stavros Niarchos Foundation Scholar

William entered his first year in Bachelors of Engineering (Honours) / Computer Science in 2024. He plans to specialise in Mechatronic Engineering, majoring in computer engineering, and is looking forward to utilising this degree to help in developing advancements in technology. William graduated Marist College Ashgrove with an ATAR of 99.55, achieving Dux in Digital Solutions and Proxime Accessit in French. William appreciates the opportunity he has been awarded through the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Scholarship and is eager to use it to the best of his ability.

In William’s senior year at Marist, he was proud to be a part of three undefeated sporting teams; 1st VII Waterpolo which he captained, Senior A’s Chess, and 3rd XI Football (soccer). He formed a small group of like-minded students and competed with great success in the UNSW High Schools Programming Competition (2022) where they were given tough programming questions which required out of the box methods to solve. In addition to his interest in programming, he also has a passion for learning French, and has honed these skills in his own time.

William is also a proud Gamilaroi man and has competed with other indigenous athletes in the First Nations Indigenous Football Cup since 2021. He has enjoyed these opportunities to connect with people of his heritage and to learn about his culture.

William is honoured to be chosen for the Liveris Academy, and as a scholar, he hopes to learn and grow as a leader and strives to help and give back to others in his community.
