Bachelor of Regional and Town Planning                                                                                                                Dalio Philanthropies Scholar

Lauren is a determined student currently pursuing a Bachelor of Regional and Town Planning at The University of Queensland. Since commencing this degree in 2022, she has been extremely passionate about improving the sustainability of the transport sector and making public transport more accessible to the wider population. To this end, she has achieved the award of the best performing BRTP student of her cohort in 2023 and is currently working at GHD as a Transport Planning Intern.

During her time at university, Lauren has built on her leadership experiences at her secondary school of Noosa District State High School, and in 2024, she began work as a committee member of the Queensland Young Planners, a section of the Planning Institute of Australia focused on connecting young planners to the greater discipline.

The role Lauren is most proud of is being a UQ Outreach Ambassador. This involves building rapport with high school students from low-socioeconomic regional backgrounds. By presenting workshops on topics such as managing stress and career advice, she aims to create change in these regional areas by encouraging students to aim high and improve their confidence.

Outside of university and extracurriculars, she greatly enjoys travelling, cooking, and attempting new crafts such as pottery.

Lauren is honoured to accept the Dalio Philanthropies Scholarship and looks forward to participating in the Liveris Academy using her passion for sustainability and innovation.
