Liam Heffernan

Bachelor of Engineering (Honours)
Dalara Foundation Scholar

Spurred by a passion for space exploration, Liam is currently undertaking a Bachelor of Engineering degree, majoring in Aerospace.
In 2021, Liam graduated from Ferny Grove State High School as Dux. During his senior year, Liam was School-Vice Captain and a key member of the student executive team. His work and leadership exhibited through these positions helped raise over $15,000 for local charities.

In addition to his leadership roles at school, Liam has been soccer club captain for the past 3 years and was the leader of a small team that won back-to-back national mathematics competitions.

Liam is also a strong proponent of the value of a healthy community. To this end, he helped create a small non-profit group in collaboration with Support Networks Australia, with the purpose of expanding the charity’s influence to communities in need.

Space has been Liam’s passion for as long as he remembers. He hopes to utilise the opportunities for scientific and economic development offered by the industry to promote sustainability. Inspired by this interest, and in addition to his studies in Years 11 and 12, Liam undertook an independent research investigation into the political history of the Apollo program. This project culminated in a 50-page analytical essay, currently in the process of being published in an international history journal.
Outside of his studies, Liam enjoys following an eclectic range of sports - including football (soccer), AFL, and F1. He often spends his spare time lost in a good book, rock climbing, or socialising with friends.

With a curiosity and passion for learning, Liam is thrilled to collaborate with his fellow scholars as he works towards building a better future under the auspices of the Liveris Academy.
