Andrea Quispe Soto

Bachelor of Biomedical Science
Dalio Scholar

Andrea is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Biomedical science at The University of Queensland to further her passion for Human health and tropical infectious diseases.

She graduated from Markham College, Peru, in 2020 with an Academic Distinction, receiving Colour and Half Colour awards during her school career for her contribution to Democracy, Music, and Academic performance.

Andrea is interested in entering the field of Virology and Medical research to help give back to vulnerable communities in her home country, Peru, and Australia due to her experience shadowing physicians at a Peruvian public hospital. Her involvement in various leadership and volunteering opportunities, including holding positions such as Secretary General for the Model United Nations Club in her school, volunteer mentor for the AIME organisation, and Secretary for UQ’s Latin America Student Association (UQ LASA), taught her the importance of effective communication in creating sustainable health tools and resources. She hopes to use her experience with Peruvian, British, and Australian education systems to make a difference in sustainable health through research, innovation, and leadership.

Andrea also enjoys playing the Violin and participating in social sports such as tennis and soccer outside of her academic coursework.

She is honoured for the opportunity to be a Liveris Academy scholar and looks forward to making a positive impact in UQ and the Liveris Academy community.
