Jordan Winchester

Dow Scholar
Bachelor of Biomedical Science

Jordan’s passionate interest in the intricacies of the human body – especially the brain – has led to his enrolment in the University of Queensland’s Bachelor of Biomedical Science. Jordan desires to complete further postgraduate studies in Medicine with a specialisation in Neurology.

In 2021 he graduated from Wilsonton State High School as Senior Dux and was awarded Senior Subject Awards for the top achievement in all of his subjects as well as Certificates of Excellence in Science. He also received the Australian Defence Force Future Innovators award recognising his leadership and innovation in the areas of STEM.

The ability to invoke meaningful positive change and social sustainability through his actions is an integral part of his everyday life. From a young age Jordan was exposed to the frightful realities of developing countries, most notably the Philippines where he aided provincial communities.

The social knowledge gained through these experiences has sparked his goal of creating not for profit medical clinics, to alleviate financial pressure attributed to unattainable health care costs. He has also volunteered extensively within Australia at several institutions and organisations such as hospitals, foodbanks, charities and developed and facilitated tutoring groups for financially disadvantaged students.

Outside of his studies, Jordan enjoys cooking, sports and the complexity of fashion design and the ways science and engineering can be implemented. As a Liveris Scholar, he feels honoured and thrilled to be a part of a community of like-minded peers and is excited to develop his leadership and analytical skills to prepare him for his future endeavours.
