Rachel Huang

Liveris Academy Alumna

Rachel completed a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours), majoring in Biological and Chemical Engineering, and a Bachelor of Science majoring in Biomedical Science in 2022.

Since the beginning of her university degree, she has had a strong practical approach to innovation and technology in the world’s sustainability. With this mindset, she applied herself to research at the Australian Institute of Bioengineering and Nanotechnology (AIBN) and the Dow centre and participated and won various engineering competitions such as the Engineering without Boarders Challenge and Sustainability Innovation Student Challenge. Through these experiences, she found her passion in turning complex concepts into tangible solutions that can contribute to solving today’s critical issues.

She founded her first start-up company Powersphere in the first year of her degree and was selected to participate in the iLab accelerator program the following year. Until today, she leads the company towards the vision of global utilisation of sustainable wind energy.

At the same time, she is an active alumna of The University of Queensland’s entrepreneurship program and is a member of UQ Entrepreneurship Expert Advisory Panel and have made the Founders Pledge to the University. She also hopes to give back to her community through speaking at various panel events and mentoring students across faculties in UQ and Queensland high schools.

On rare occasions Rachel is not working, she enjoys travelling to new places, playing tennis, and bonding with her pet rodents.
